Alisons card

Hello Lovelies - I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday - it was just like Spring here - totally beautiful and apparently more is forecast for today! Fingers crossed. I even managed to get my mum and dad to Happy Mount Park in Morecambe which was great.

Its so good to see my dad out and about although he didn't go far - his legs are very weak. Shame his mind is so rambling - he's convinced my mum takes him to at least 3 other houses to sleep and that each one is identical. A funny thing is dementia.

Today I want to share a card I made for my friend Alison - she's Tawny owl at Brownies and gets married and moves away in April.

The main stamp is a creative expressions sam poole stamp - I've created the background using a paperartsy stamp and brushos and distress crayons. Its all on watercolour card. I coloured the owl in distress markers. The sentiment stamp is from Tim Holtz.

We all went out for a meal at the local pub in Hornby on Friday night - it was a lovely night - we will still see Alison at a couple more meets before she finishes for Easter.

Big huggles to you and I hope you have a great day - enjoy whatever you do.

Hugs

Rachel x

  1. Good morning dear Rachel, first of all its so exciting to be joining you over at CVC...a new adventure. Sorry I have been a bit MIA over here. I am working on my daughter's 30th birthday cake and bits and it's also my last full week at work. Your recent wonderful journal pages have been so thought provoking, you are indeed one of the bravest peeps I have the pleasure to know. Keep strong. This lovely owl card is perfect for your brownie leader...she will cherish it. It looks like your had a great time with your family. Your dear Dad is obviously so cherished, dementia is aweful but at times such sweet comments make us smile. Huge hugs xx

  3. Rachel, your card is just perfect for a tawny owl. It's brilliant.
Yes it must be good for your mum to get your dad out of the house for a little while, caring 24/7 is a very hard job, more so when it's a loved one that is being cared for. Yes it's meant to be good this week, and an hour outside can make a big difference! Hazel X

  9. Hi Rachel, lovely photo of the girls with their Gran and Grandad. What an awful disease dementia is, and hard on your mum and dad, but it's good for your dad to get out and about even if just for a wee while.
Your card is lovely, I love the owl image so just perfect of a Brown Owl, and your colours and background are fabulous. Kate x

  17. Rachel, your owl is super sweet and I'm sur eyour friend will love her card! Looks like a wonderful visit with your Mum and Dad. My dad had Alzheimer's so I can totally relate, but rarely did funny things come out. I worked with quite a few dementia patients, and always found comic relief in their utterings. Hugs!
