I've been making a memory box - I had a mixed box of items from the MDF man and have enjoyed altering them all - I still have a couple of boxes and a set of drawers left to do but anyway - I'm getting distracted. I wanted somewhere to put photos and things all ready for scrapbooking - I'm getting behind and have accumulated some stuff that needs somewhere to live - this box file is perfect - I've decorated it using mostly TH items (plus a prima doll) and this is where I'm going to keep adding my stuff for scrapbooking!
I added distress paints directly to the MDF on this occasion without using gesso below to prime. I think the paints sit well and while they are not quite as bright I think the subtle look is cool.
Once the paints had dried (including the black gesso n the edge and back and also inside the folder) I set about doing some stamping using TH stamps - then I added the texture paste using TH layering stencil. I used another layering stencil to add some black soot distress ink in places. I also diecut some trellis and Tim words and added that and stamped the prima doll. I coloured some adage tickets using DI and stuck them along the edge.
I coloured the prima doll then fussy cut her then added the paper pieced dress. I had stamped this on papers made up using distress paint.
I didn't spend long on the inside - just added some TH papers from the laboratoire set that I had sprayed up using dylusions inks.
I think my box file will be a very useful addition to my craft room and I look forward to tidying some photographs into it and paraphenalia associated with scrapbooking.
I would like to enter this memory box file into the challenge at vintagejourney AVJ where the theme is Fond memories.

Wish your Dad a Very Happy Birthday, 80 is quite a milestone :) He will just love his cake ! it's amazing. On another subject, thank you so very much for the happy post you sent me. We were so busy yesterday, we forgot to check the post box until we arrived back home last night from the school's performing Arts evening. What a fabulous surprise. The only thing I have ever won, was a tin of baked beans believe it or not, at a school fair because my raffle ticket had a 5 on the end of the number lol!"! Thank you so very much Rachel, I really appreciate it. The comments I leave are so well deserved, your work is amazing Hun. I'm thrilled to bits and thank you for your beautiful card too! Whoopee lol!! Thanks again Rachel. Hugs Jennifer xx

Hi Rachel, thanks for the lovely comment on my blog. Please don't worry about not hearing from Samuel Taylors as things are rather hectic there at the moment, the manager who is asking for tutors is having to spend a few days a week at our Leeds store to set up their fabric department so she hasn't been around much at Embsay. I have seen your name on a list today so I am sure you will hear something fairly soon, but as I say things are a bit hectic :)
ReplyDeleteYour box is beautiful! I love the cake for your dad too, hope he had a lovely 80th birthday.
Hugs

ReplyDeleteI am not sure what goodies you are talking about hun as I have cut my magazine spending out - just get my Craft Stamper magazine now, with the odd guilty secret if it is a stamp set that I am desperate for! Try not to worry about commenting - you know where I am and you know that I can't always manage to comment. Your life is so much busier with your lovely two young ladies too so don't stress about it Karen xx
