Easter egg hunt and card

Hiya there - I'm just starting this post now but will have to complete it later - my two little munchkins are snapping at my heels ready to go out on an Easter egg hunt at  alocal village - more about that later. We've been and returned - the girls both got a chocolate egg and mum and dad got a lovely walk! Fab!

I've got a card to show you today that I made using my new x cut die from my prize that came yesterday - it worked very well I'm pleased to say and hopefully this is the first of many postings relating to it!

This last minute Easter card was made so I had one to send to my sister -in-law down in Kent. I just realised she'd somehow managed to not get one! whoops!
Anyway, I've stamped and coloured in Tilda and cut her out to sit ontop of a giant Easter Egg. I've put this onto an easel card with lilac lace and my xcut purple spikey circle on it and added the rabbit too! The papers were free from simply card making and papercraft this issue - they are part of the nitwits range. On the base of the easel I've done a purple strip of mirri card stuck onto more papers and then along the edges I've done faux stitching. Finally I've added a bow to prop up the easel.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

DYSU #65: Sew it:
TOMIC #43 Easter
Totally Papercrafts: Easter.
Just Magnolia: Springtime

That's all for now - just hope you all enjoy the rest of your Saturday and have a fabulous Sunday!

Yay - my prize arrived from Docrafts

Hello there all - well its been a busy old Friday already - I've been for my run, done a shop and found my prize had come from docrafts for a card I made for the new year. I'm so excited - I can't wait to get going with it but thought I'd put my card on here as a sort of record of the prize!

I used a papermania tent fold card and stamped directly onto it with urban stamps. I also stamped and cut out the key and lock. I cut out a piece of lined paper using a spellbinders die and distressed it with walnut stain. Then I stamped the words unlock your potential. I added some cream bobbly lace trim that I partly distresses and cut out some triangles and turned them into bunting. Finally I drew and cut out the numbers 2, 1, 2 and made a rosette topper to act as the 0 - I added a button of a similar color to the walnut stain and then finished putting the card together!

The prize is fantastic - I've won a sizzix machine and 9 x-cut dies plus 3 embossing folders - like I siad - I can't wait to get up in the attic tonight and getting playing!

Oh happy days!

Under the weather

Evening all - I must say its taking me a while to find my way around the new system - I'm wishing I hadn't upgraded now but hopefully I'll start to see the benefits soon!

Another fabulous day - great run with a my friend Sue and an afternoon at the park with my daughter Penny followed by an Easter Egg hunt with my Rainbows this evening! Busy busy!

This evenings post is using one of my favourite stamps - puddles of love from Gorjuss:

I used the sketch from the challenge over at The crafty pad - couldn't get a rabbit in there too but nevermind! The card was really inspired by the weather challenge over at Jellypark but I'd like to also enter it into anything goes challenges over at Divas by Design and Simon Says Stamp.

I've used the gorjuss stamp with prmarkers and the paper behing is bobunny. I've used a sizzix sizzlit to cut the cloud and the back part is DCWV rickrack.

So here are the challenges:

Birds Birds Birds

Evening all - well what a wondeful day its been (apart from the inevitable filling - yikes £47 later ....). Spent the afternoon with my mum and youngest daughter on the beach at Morecambe - even paddled in the sea - and its still March - would you believe it?

Anyway - thanks again to all you lovely people for leaving me comments and kind words - I really do appreciate it!

Tonights post:

This card has been made with my husband in mind as he's a bit of a twitcher - not a fanatic - but he does love to watch the birds from our window and goes to great lengths making birdy cake for them.
I made this card using three images from the papermania urban stamps range and one from the paperartsy range (that's the owl in the middle). I also used a dandelion clock (or is it an alium?) from inkylicious. Everything has been done in black ink - the images stamped in archival black ink and black soot used to distress around the card edges. I've also used a nestie to die cut the images and glossy black card that I initially bought for encaustic art.

I'd like to enter this creation for the following challenges:
Little Miss Muffets Silhouettes Challenge:
The Sunday Stamper bird challenge 198:
Craft your passion monochromatic challenge:
That's all for now folks - see you soon - I hope xx

Have a Drink on me

Good morning to all my crafty friends and followers - I hope this day is as bright and shiny for you wherever you are as it is for me here in Hornby. I'm able to make this post, however, because I have to take my kiddies to the dentist this morning so I don't have to rush for school - but I do have to go to the dentist -aaaarrrrgggghhhhh!!!!

So here's one I've made for my husband's brother Lee who is a keen cyclist. He lives in Germany too but will appreciate the northern flat cap and real ale!

I started this card with a white 8x8 card blank and used a blending tool and distress inks (barn door - that's new, tea dye and pressed olive) to create the background. I chose the colours to match those on the La Pasche image that I decoupaged up. This is the neglected piece of stash - found it at the bottom of a draw and thought it would be perfect! The paper is basic grey from their life's a party collection and the sentiment is kanban. Buttons are from my stash.

I'd like to enter this card for the following challenges:

Sketch and stash Collection challenge:
Totally papercrafts Humour challenge
http://totallypapercrafts.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/totally-papercrafts-challenge-109_23.html
Pile it on no.13: for a man.

Not looking forward to the dentist but will have to be brave! Catch ya later!

Bright and Beary

Hello again - 2nd post of the day - so here goes:

I've stamped my teddybo image with expresso adirondack ink and then coloured her in using promarkers. I've cut the image out using nesties and mounted her onto a nestie cut board. All of this has been mounted onto some echo park splash paper and the sentiment and buttons added to make my card very bright and cheerful.
I'd like to enter this card into the brights challenge at pan pastel http://panpasteluk.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/challenge-11-bright-colours.html
and the buttons challenge over at teddybo.http://teddybochallenge.blogspot.co.uk/

I think that's me for today - speak to you all later! Rachel xx

Butterfly Girl

Good morning all! Its a bright and shiny day here in Hornby near Lancaster. I can't believe just how lucky we've been the last few days - its been stunning! Can I just take this opportunity to say welcome to my new followers and thanks to everyone who has been taking the time to leave kind comments on my posts - I really do appreciate the feedback - thankyou!

Well I've just been to my aerobics class and now I'm all fired up ready to make my first post of the day.

As you can see Tilda is looking very pretty today - I had to wait a full fortnight to get hold of this stamp and I love it to bits - I think you may be seeing quite a lot of it!
So my recipe:
1. stamped the mage using expresso adirondack ink pad and coloured in using promarkers.
2. Cut out the image and stuck onto a doily.
3. Layered up the backing paper in stripes and added lace (from dunelm mill) to the paper joins. Added Tilda topper and some extra butterflies and the sentiment from kanban.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
TOMIC challenge inspired by Magnolia Ink Magazine.

a morning with Hels

Evening all - I've had the most wonderful crafty morning at a workshop with Hels Sheridan. It was held at Dawn Bibby's design studio in Church near Ostwaldwhistle in Lancashire. It was a busy workshop with lots of faces I've met there before and a lot of new ones too!

We made what Hels called an envelopotag (I think that was the term she used!). I've taken quite a few pictures because its quite detailed. As we only had 2 and 1/2 hours Hels had already done the stamping for us (except for the sentiment) and we spent most of the workshop working with distress stains and distress pads to get the effects shown. I used old paper distress stain and dusty concorde distress pad plus a little of vintage photo and walnut stain distress inkpads. I even used the dusty concorde ink stain to colour half of the ribbon. We added the distress ink in layers and spritzed and flicked with water and dried in between to get a more grungy look. The cogs and hinge were cut from grunge paper and we used distress pads to colour these up. The sentiment was printed using black archival ink.

I really enjoyed the workshop and would recommend Hels to you if you ever get the chance to do one!

Have a great evening!

sugar nellie's plaid day

Evening all - my second and final post for this evening - its one I've made for my friend/young leader Alice who helps me out at Rainbows - she'll be 16 in April so I thought I'd make her a card for her birthday!

I've used an 8x8 inch card blank and layered on a dark green layer then topped that with spotty papers topped off with the green from the basal layer and a plaid ribbon. I've stamped and coloured the image with promarkers then added a palid top and hat cut out from a further stamped image. I've mounted the image on to more of the basal green and added the topper to the card. Then I've used three dotty buttons from the ribbon girl, a plaid bow and a circular sentiment from LOTV.
I'd like to enter this card for the following challenges:

Spots and dots over at The Sugar Bowl
http://sugarbowlblog.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/challenge-80cathys-sketch.html

I think thats going to be it for today - looking forward to an Easter egg hunt tomorrow! Hoping for good weather! Have a fab weekend! Rachel xx

Birthday ballet girl

Evening all - well I survived gardening club at lunchtime and the dreaded school disco this eveing - my little ones are now both tucked up in the land of nod and I can join you out there in blog land.
My first offering this evening is a card I've made for a little girl called Lucy who will be three in April.

I've followed the sketch from the Lili's little fairies challenge for this week. I made the card as follows:
Stamped the image and coloured using promarkers.
Cut the oval using nestie and added the picture.
Used martha stewart punch to create the rectangle and added it to blue mirri card.
Layered both of these onto pink wood effect paper from basic grey which I had layered onto mirri card and layered onto more of the pink.
Added my sentiment and the three flowers.
I'd like to enter this card into the Lili's little fairies sketch challenge and also the pink challenge over for craft month at LOTV.

http://liliofthevalleythursdaychallenge.blogspot.co.uk/

I'll be back for another post soon! See you all later xx Rachel xx

howdy pardner

Good morning - its a beautiful day here in Hornby - I'm just in from marshalling my daughters' schools sport relief mile - and I've got a short while before heading off to gardening club at school so I thought I'd post this card I made last night. Its for an old friend Chris who has a birthday in May - I think he might appreciate the cowgirl's pose - the image is from a CD called 'pin ups'.

So I used the pin ups CD rom for the image and mounted it on blue mirri board. Then I've layered that onto red gingham and again onto the blue mirri board. I've attached the whole thing to a kanban card blank and added red and blue stars - a very quick card but I'd still like to enter it into the cowpoke challenge over at dudetime doodles this week.
I'll be back with more later! Have a happy Friday! See you then!!

Easter Bunny

evening all! And what a wonderful Spring day its been today - just perfect for gardening and a trip to the park - my mum and my daughter Penny accompanied me to the park in Morecambe for lots of fun - great stuff!

Anyway, thats put in in the mood to post my easter bunny card I made for the anything goes easter  challenge 63.

its a very simple card that uses elements from my latest ribbons and blooms kit from duck pond crafts and also a beautiful bunny image from Joanna Sheens Furry friends. The blue ribbon and papers are from my stash and the daisy from an earlier blooms and ribbon kit - I actually has to pinch this one off a card that I made for my daughters 4th birthday - don't worry - I've put something in its place - soo naughty!!!!
I'd like to enter this card for the challenge already mentioned:

nighty night - another day will dawn all too soon! Rachel xx

Its a gorjuss spring time

Evening all - well I've had a lovely time with my rainbows this evening - we've been making a scarecrow for the local festival in late April - they all did so well - I think we've more or less nailed it!

Anyway onto this evenings post - its a spring time card using one of the Gorjuss stamps:

I've made this card for a little girl who will be 5 in May - and she always reminds me of the Gorjuss girls! Anyway - I've tried to use fresh zingy colours and brighten up the puddles of love stamp. I've coloured the image using promarkers then cut around her and mounted her onto a doily (thanks Teresa) . I've added the doily above a ribbon (from Duck Pond Crafts) that is wrapped around green paper topped with checked orange and yellow paper from my stash. I've added the flowers and the sentiment last - the flowers are from this months Duck Pond Crafts blooms kit and the leaves from MCS. The sentiment is kanban (i think!).
I'd like to enter this card for the Springtime challenge over at Totally Gorjuss and the bingo challenge over at Simon says stamp challenge (mines flowers, lace and ribbon) and also at the sweet stamping challenge blog.

A sentimental journey

Good afternoon all - hope you've had a wonderful day so far? I've managed to do my run and should now be organising stuff for my Rainbows this evening - but I just had to post this card that I made last night.

I'm so pleased with it! It includes a verse from a clarity stamp that I've stamped using eggplant adirondack ink and cut out using a nestie. I've mounted it onto purple mirri board also cut with a nestie. The background has been made using purple paper that has been cut with a Martha Stewart punch then mounted onto the same mirri board. Then I used dusty concorde distress ink to colour the edges of the card and mounted my topper onto a piece of white card. Finally I added the ribbon and the flowers and the heather from Duck Pond Crafts Blooms kit.

I'd like to enter this card for the challenge over at Craft your passion challenges where the sentiment has to be the main focus.  I'd also like to enter it for the add a flower challenge over at pan pastel this week.

Thanks for looking and for all the kind remarks that you leave - it really is appreciated!

up in the air!

Hi there,
well it was a gorgeous mother's day here in the northwest - I was taken out to Skipton by my husband and children and we managed to sneak a little canal boat ride in and a meal - lovely stuff. My kiddies also bought me lots of lovely crafty goodies so I was well and truely spoiled!

Anyway - its Monday so time for a new card - I've been playing with the chronology section of my docrafts capsule collection CD and have come up with the following that I will mount onto a card for an old friend Chris. So I've done all of this is the docrafts digital designer - using the chronology section of the capsule collection CD ROM.
I'd like to enter this card for a couple of challenges - the first is
1. Totally Papercrafts:http://totallypapercrafts.blogspot.co.uk/
and the second is:
2. Pile it on's up in the air challenge:http://pileitonchallenge.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/pile-it-on-12-up-in-air.html
There are balloons in the background - hence the up in the air card title.
Hope you like it! More tomorrow!

Hi there! Final post for this evening. This is a card I've made for a friend's daughter who will be 8 in April. It features my favourite colour -red - and a lovely image from LOTV. The image has been coloured with promarkers and I used glitter on the wings. I cut the image out using the fleur de lys rectangle from spellbinders. The paper was in my stash - I love it! Dude Time Doodle

Evening all - well its been a busy old day where the doctor confirmed that I've pulled a muscle in my neck/shoulder - at least that explains why I've been having so much pain and being unable to sleep so good! Anyway - moving on - I decided to attempt a card using the freebie over at Dude time Doodles. I loved the image. For the card I printed the image out and coloured it using promarkers. I added the cut image to some green card and then added lemon and lime brads from my stash into the corners. The base of the card I made from two separate woodware 12x12 scrapbooking papers wrapped with some yellow ribbon. After attaching the image to the front I added a bow and a sentiment and some yellow roses.

Biker Boy

Evening all - hope you're all well and happy? I'm feeling good - just had a good workout and am now updating this before chilling out in front of the T.V with my gorgeous hubby.

Tonight's offering is a boy card: I've used a ready made topper from LOTV and cut it using spellbinders nestability die - I've mounted that onto another mat similarly cut. I've used a docrafts embossing folder for the red background and the card I used was satin finish card from create and craft. I've embellished the card with ribbon and buttons and added a sentiment. The card is for my friend's little boy Beau who will be 4 in April - I hope he likes it!

Pink and green Blossom

Good evening crafters,

I'm feeling very sleepy this evening after my darling daughters got me up at the crack of dawn - been a bit of a zombie all day if I'm honest - but its been a good day - lots of fun.

Tonight's offering is a card I made using the blossom stamp from LOTV. I just adore this stamp - its so pretty. The little girl is just so full of energy and fun and reminds me a little of my Penny who just adores flowers and pink.
My recipe is as follows:
Stamp image and colour using promarkers. Cut out using nestability die. Cut outer circle too and add one to the other. Wrap the ribbon around the pink dotty paper on the base having first cut to size. Add the sentiment then the flowers and gems. Cut the stripey paper to size and add to the front part of the easel. Add more ribbon. Add topper and finish with fluorishes and gems.
Hope you like this one. I'd like to enter it for the following challenges:

Keeping mum

Good evening my crafty friends and followers - firstly I'd like to say thanks for comments that you leave - I do love to hear opinions on anything that I make. Secondly I'd like to tell you about my interesting day - I've been putting the finishing touches to my two little girls new bedroom - they are now snuggled up in what I can only describe as princess/barbieville and so I can get on with this post.
Today I'd like to share with you a card I made for a friend's baby shower:

The card features a digi stamp from pink petticoat designs - I think - I've had it a while - I think its a lovely image for a proud mum to be. I've used a papermania kraft card and a bow salvaged from wedding presents (its 7 years since we got married - how can I still have this ribbon in my possession?) I've used capsule color collection papers from papermania in pink and blue to emphasise the not knowing the sex of the baby thing. The flower is also part of the capsule collection with a centre from MCS.
I'm sure my friend will like this card - I hope you do too.
I'd like to enter this card for the anything goes challenge over at Craft your passion challenges. http://www.craftyourpassionchallenges.blogspot.com/
Hope you have a lovely evening - and that my two princesses do too.

Spring has sprung

http://ccmonthlychallenge.blogspot.com/

I think maybe I have time for just one more post then I really will have to get on with some work! This card comes with a decoupaged image form the Humpreys corner CD Rom - it really is one of my favourite CD Roms but I don't seem to use it nearly enough. I'm going to enter this card for the crafters companion monthly challenge which I will link to once I've completed this! Ok now for the card:

Now for the recipe -
1. fold an 8x8 card to create an easel. Use papermania ready cut 8x8 card to make the front. Add yellow gingham paper and a square doily (thanks Teresa)  and add the decoupaged image taken from the CD ROM.
2. Add the green gingham ribbon and tie the bow - use leftover ribbon to edge the base.
3. Add flowers in shades of yellow and green.
4. Add vibrant green paper to the base and more ribbon.
5. Make up the sentiment and add this to the base.
Hope you like this one - its very spring like to me.
Hugs

Spring is in the air

Good Afternoon all! Well its still looking like spring has sprung here in Lancaster - the washing is blowing and since I've finished the housework I've just got enough time to add another post I think.
This one is for the Joanna Sheen Springtime Challenge.

This card features those cheeky house mice on an Easter card - with the most enormous bow!!!!!
The mice are done via the Joanna sheen decoupage - I used layers 1, 2 and three but left the final layer off. I've layered them onto paper from the last create and craftclub member magazine - the bow was in my stash and worked really well with the paper - but you can't see much of that! nevermind - the thought was there!

Birthday Tilda

Good morning all from a sunny Lancaster - I'm feeling good - done my aerobics and still feeling as high a kite from winning the docrafts die cutting bundle for my New Year card - so chuffed! Can't wait to get it so that I can have a play.
Anyway down to business - my first card of the day is a Tilda card - I've made it for a four year old girl who just loves the colour blue. I'm sure she'll like it.

Here's the recipe:
1. Cut papers to size to fit the sketch from this weeks magnolia  Tilda challenge. The papers are all from the blue capsule collection from papermania.
2. Stuck the papers down and then stamped and coloured Tilda using promarkers.
3. Added Tilda to a doily and added this to a circle diecut using a spellbinders die.
4. Added the flowers, sentiment and 4 in gems.
Hope you like it - I'm entering this for the mentioned challenge and also the panpastel challenge. I will link now!
