Anything goes at That Craft Place

Hello lovelies! How are you? Did you have a stormy day yesterday? We had lots of rain but not so much in the way of storms. I wonder what its going to be like today? By the time this posts I should be over half way around a 10 mile run - fingers crossed it won't be so humid! This will be my last long run before my hollibobs when I intend to do nothing exercise wise!!! Lol!!!

Today its the start of a new challenge over at thatcraftplaceblog. The theme this time is anything goes! I have decorated some pots using graphic 45 papers - french country. The pots and the papers are both available at that craft place.

I do so adore these papers and I have these pots sitting on my work desk now - one holds paint brushes, another scissors and other tools and the final one I think is things like glue pens and zig pens - things like that. It was a very simple project to do once I had worked out the dimensions! I just made a template and used it to cut out the papers.

I hope you are able to join us at That Craft Place for the challenge.

Big hugs and thanks for looking. Hope to see you again soon!

Decorate a bag at That Craft Place

Hello there! How are you today! This is a scheduled post as I was out on Sat night with the girls at their show -  am hoping to add some pictures of them to the next post that will be out this afternoon! Anyway - time for a new challenge over at That Craft Place where the theme for this fortnight is ' Decorate a bag'. I decided to decorate an old brown bag using stamps by Sam Poole from Creative Expressions. This stamp set was bought from That Craft Place. Here's my bag:

I did a distress background then stamped in archival ink - once dry I used water to faux bleach out the colour on the flowers. Finally I stamped the orange flowers.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

Use a full set of stamps at AVJ

Good morning to you! I hope you are well and happy! We are all good! Ready for another Friday! I have my make for the latest challenge at AVJ - A Vintage Journey. The challenge this time is to use a full set of stamps on one item - since the challenge requires that you use the techniques and style of Tim Holtz I decided to use one of his stamp sets - Mariposa. Here's what I made:

I started with a wooden hankie box holder that I bought from That Craft Place. To this I added black card and then layered on card that I had coloured up with distress paints and distress inks.

Once I had coloured the card I used most of the stamps from the set on it to create a background pattern. Then I cut the card to size and added to the box. On some extra card I did some more distress paints and then stamped the Mariposa butterfly and fussy cut it - I also stamped the pieces on the ends and cut and added them. The diecuts are from the Garden Greens set from Tim Holtz.

I'd like to enter this for the following challenges:

A vintage Journey:use-every-stamp-in-set
Sunday Stamper:pinkleart Wood

Hope you have a great Friday - I've got the gym and a class followed by gardening club - we'll be harvesting again this week. Whatever you're doing enjoy it! And thanks for dropping by today. Big Hugs rachel xx

In the garden at WOW challenge

Good morning lovelies - well today I have a lovely treat - I'm off to Clarity Cumbria for a days workshop with Jo Rice. I'm hoping to post my makes on Monday - I say hoping - as long as time allows.

My lovely Lucy came home yesterday afternoon - full of tales of games and good food, fun and friendship. Sounds great! A big thanks to all concerned for organising such a fun few days.

Onto today - I have a little sign I've made to share with you - but first here's something from my garden - my first ever dahlias - cut and sitting in a vase in my kitchen - I'm well chuffed with them! There's a few of Penny's giant sweet peas in here too!

Photo: my first ever dahlias. well chuffed!

Okay - time to see my make for today - to make it I used a sign from thatcraftplace and painted it with silkies from Imagination Crafts. I then used an Imagination Crafts stencil and more silkies to add the daisies. Whilst this was drying I made the heart - to make this I heated some UTEE in a meltpot and added some rudolph red wow powders - I was quite surprised to find it going pinky white - anyway - then I added some tropic red cosmic shimmer powder which made it a deeper pink. Once melted I poured this into a WOW powders mould - its a gorgeous mould and you will be seeing much more of it. Then I left it to set - just a few minutes - and added it to my sign. Finally I added the lettering.

I'd like to enter this into the Gardens challenge over at wowembossingpowder this month.

Hope you have a great Saturday and looking forward to catching up with your makes when I get home!

Big Hugs

masculine/fathers day at That Craft Place

Hello Lovelies! How are you today? I'm good and recovering from my birthday - thanks to everyone who sent well wishes and cards - you're all very kind and I really do appreciate it. Thankyou. Thanks also for all the kind comments on my card yesterday. I hope you like todays offerings - this is the first of two posts.

This is for that craft place challenge blog - I've been working on the team involved with the inspiration side of things - but now we have swapped over and I am now involved in the challenges! This fortnight the challenge is masculine or for fathers day! I used the owl stamp set that I used earlier in the week - its by Sam Poole and I bought it from That Craft Place . They also have a selling page on facebook - thats where I usually shop!

My dad loves green and owls so I'm hoping he'll love this!!! The background was made by running some paper through an A4 sheena folder then dragging the cactus green staz-on pad over the top.

The 'tree' is made from webbing from TCP too. I coloured the bird with spectrum noir pens and used some of the same colours to do some plain card before stamping the sentiments on it!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Polkadoodlespolkadoodle: men
MAWTTmovingalongwiththetimes: fathers day

Easter/AG at That Craft Place

Hello Lovelies! How are you today? I hope you are fine and well. We're all good - we had a fabulous day in the Lakes yesterday - we took a ferry from Glenridding across Ullswater to Howtown and then walked back - it was 6 miles - and the girls both managed it really well - its the first time we've taken them on a proper walk so we were really pleased. I hope we'll be able to do it again soon!

This picture was taken right at the start before we got on the boat - spirits were high.

Still in good spirits a few miles in.

Having a rest on the homeward straight - tired but very happy! They did so very well!

Okay - my card today - its to remind you of the new challenge that started yesterday at thatcraftplaceblog - its anything goes/Easter. Here's what I did - the JOFY stamps I used I got from thatcraftplace.

I made the background using a gelli plate and a stencil from imagination Crafts - I also used acrylic paints and applied them to the plate using splodges rather than brayering the whole thing.

I stamped the JOFY flowers and grasses directly onto the background and paper pieced the flower heads. The birds were stamped separately and fussy cut - I used my brayer to reverse the bird image - they were coloured with spectrum noirs.

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges:

AGOACpinkgemchallengeblog: Spring is in the air
Allsorts CBallsortschallenge: Spring Blossoms
A creative romanceacreativeromance: Easter/Spring
Jellyparkjellyparkchallenges: Easter
MAWTT:movingalongwiththetimes Easter/spring
Simon says stampsimonsaysstampblog: Easter

Thanks for dropping by today - its the first day of our holibobs so I should be busy - but the girls are off to science camp today so I have a normal day - nose to the grindstone come tomorrow - lol!!!!

Big Hugs to you and hope to see you again soon!

look for the silver lining .....

Hello there! How are you today? I'm okay but feeling a little apprehensive as my dad has a minor operation today. Fingers crossed everything goes okay.

Onto my post for today - I've made a canvas using a few different metallic elements:

The first metallic input to my canvas was the background. I mixed some metallic pan pastel with gesso and primed the base. Next  I used a clarity mask and white pan pastel to create the clouds. Then it was time to use the TH bubble stencil and some cosmic shimmer gold pearl paste and the stamping using the 'every cloud has a silver lining stamp - from That Craft Place. Finally I added some branches using silver sparkle medium and a stencil from Imagination Crafts.

The next step was the prima doll stamp - I stamped it onto white card and used pan pastels to colour it - fussy cut then set with spray and sparkle. I added the image to the canvas then added the wooden leaves (from that craft place) with a coating of metallic distress paint. I also added the roses and the buttons. The flower at the base of the text was made using a mould from That Craft Place that was filled with maimeri matt medium mixed with metallic pan pastel. Finally I added the lace that was also from that Craft Place ..... did I mention I got a 4 month DT place with them! Woo hoo. Very happy!

I'd like to enter this canvas into the following challenges:

Make a Box at That Craft Place

Good morning lovelies - how are you today? Thanks for dropping by yesterday and for the lovely comments you left.  Well we had a lovely day yesterday - we went off down to Rufford Old Hall in between Preston and Southport and played some tudor games and looked around the house. Its a National Trust Property and we have been before but we've spent most time in the garden. Yesterdays visit was more about the house and we had lots of fun. Not sure whats on the agenda today - there's talk of the zoo at Blackpool but also of bowling - so we'll wait and see what transpires.

Today at thatcraftplaceblog there's a new challenge starting - its all about making (or altering) a box. Here's what I did:

I started out with a plain MDF money box from the MDF man. I primed it with gesso then painted with pebeo acrylic paint. Then I used my fave crafty individuals script stamp and stamped on the box in sepia archival. Next I used two stencils from that craft place and added the images on the sides of the box. Finally I decorated the top using a stencil from Imagination Crafts and some flowers/fibbon and butterflies. This is bound for my daughter Penny who will be 6 on Thursday - I hope she likes it!!!

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

Thanks for dropping by today and I hope to see you again soon!

Happy Thursday to you! I hope you are well and happy! Things here are good and I'm currently getting very excited about heading off to Middlesborough tomorrow to a Hels Sheridan weekend course. I can hardly contain my excitement!!!! But I must! I'll try to remember my camera and take some pictures whilst I'm there for Mondays blog post!

Today I've got a card to share with you I made for my nephew Aaron who will be 18 in February.

I made the background of the card using a number mask from Tim Holtz. I applied the mask then sponged over metallic panpastels. I set this with spray and sparkle then stamped over the health wealth and happiness always sentiment - from Sheena douglass. I cut the spellbinders frame and cut some TH paper to fit then stamped the sheena douglass goblet onto TH metal tape. I stuck this onto the paper ontop of a beaded net from That Craft place then added the key from That Craft Place. The net ribbon in the background was also from That Craft Place.

The butterfly I cut out from centura pearl card and then added roses down the body area of the butterfly.

All of the fabric came from That Craft Place. The pendant also came from That Craft Place and I stamped the image again in sepia and cut to fit. Then I set it in place with UTEE heated in my meltpot and poured in.

colour scheme for That Craft Place Challenge

Hello there!

This is my post for the That Craft Place Challenge which starts today - there is a colour palette to stick to if you wish to enter the challenge:

I really enjoyed making the piece I made for this challenge and its currently hanging on my bedroom wall.

I made a canvas and started by making some papers with my gelli plate - I used two colours of acrylic paint and made up a light blue by mixing a darkblue and some white. I made my prints using both sequin waste and a mask from That Craft Place - you can't see the image here because its all been cut up. I cut the prints up and backed them onto either brown or blue card. I made the central part of the canvas on paper that I coloured with distress inks then stamped using a script stamp from Crafty Individuals. Then I used a second mask from That Craft Place and added Gold shimmer texture paste from Cosmic shimmer.

On top of this paste once dry I added some metallic pan pastels - then I stamped the dylusions sentiment and cut it out and fixed it.

The heart came from That craft place and I coloured it with distress ink - antique linen/teadye. I made the flowers using the tattered florals die from TH and also cut leaves using the tattered leaves die. Then I assembled the whole thing on a 10 x 8 canvas. I hope you like it as much as I do!

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

GDT for that Craft Place: Challenge - Anything goes

Goodly morning to you all! I've got a busy old day in blogland today - and I'm away too so this is a short - and hopefully sweet scheduled post! Today I'm sharing this post with you for That Craft Place challenge blog where I was lucky enough to get a joint GDT spot for three months. The challenge starting today is Anything goes/Christmas - I've made a steampunk inspired piece made with goodies available at  at thatcraftplace.
Here it is:

The hat came as a flat pack - its a Mad-Hatters-Top-Hat and I painted it using distress paints and stamped it with the steampunk christmas stamps from Sam Poole at Creative Expressions. I then assembled the hat and added cogs I had cut from rangers foil tape cut using spellbinders dies - I stamped the steampunk Christmas bird onto the ranger foil tape and then fussy cut it. I added the black ribbon to the piece then attached the bird and lightbulb charm and key - all from that craft place. I've also stamped a feather from the wise friend stamp set - I'll try and add a picture soon - I can't find the photo files I took at the moment. The feather is attached to the RHS of the hat.

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges.

Shaun's card

Good morning lovelies! How are you today? I hope you are all fine and well. Did you have those wild winds last night? It was shocking here! I hope its not like that tonight as I'm hoping to take the girls on the village carol singing! Its night 1 of three tonight - and I'd like to do two of the three! We raise money for the homeless shelter in Lancaster. Its usually good fun too.

Tonight I'd like to show you shaun's card that I made for him - virtually all the stuff used on the card was from That Craft Place.

I started to make this card by creating the background - the cloud stamp is be Ditzie Designs which is the own brand at That Craft Place. I stamped this with versa and added white wow powders before heat setting. I then made up the background using the ombre technique as featured in the current craft stamper magazine. I used chipped sapphire, faded jeans and tumbled glass DI. Next I did more background stamping using a script stamp and a stamp from the sam poole steampunk christmas stamp set. Then I made the owls - using the sam poole wise friend stamp set - one was stamped onto a sheaf of paper that was like treebark - it may actually have been treebark. The second owl was stamped on the back of a brown envelope. Both were decoupaged up. I also stamped the leaves from the same stamp set then put the card together. The piece of wood came as part of my DT pack - as did the tree bark. Finally I added the hats to the owls and the sentiment. The hats came from a stamp set by Imagination Crafts.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Monday challengesimonsaysstampblog-stamp-out-2013: Stamp something
Craft Stamper Magazinecraftstamper-take-it-make-it-challenge-six - Ombre Technique
PTWpapertakeweekly: Last Christmas Card
The Male Roomthemaleroomchallengeblog: Celebration

I've got something else to show you now - I took delivery of this beautiful cake today - I was lucky enough to win it in a competition - amazing!! So glad I didn't make one! Lol!!!

Aren't I a lucky girl!

Thats all for today - thanks for all your lovely comments - I really do appreciate them. Hope to see you again soon! Big Hugs Rachel xx

Inspired by Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas week 10 and a commenters candy

Good morning to you lovely people! How are you today? I hope you are well and feeling happy! It was such a beautiful day here yesterday - full of blue skies and crispness - perfect for a run with my friend sue - when I got home I made peanut butter cookies - they're delicious!!! Great for replenishing that lost energy - lol!!!! Thanks for all your kind comments on yesterdays card - and also Penny's piccie. I've got one to show you of Lucy today - she was a princess/eastern dancer.

I'm afraid I'm responsible for those eyes - they were meant to look egyptian!!!! I couldn't get one of her during the play - she seemed to spend most of the time out of view!

Today I've got a card to share with you inspired by tag 10 of Linda's tags over at the Funkie Junkie 12 tags of Christmas challenge sponsored by the thefunkiejunkie Boutique. You can see Linda's original tag here - I took inspiration from the holly background, the bow and the focal sentiment plus the script in the background.

To make my card I used a kraft card blank and stamped over the back in teadye DI with a script stamp. Then I used an imaginationcrafts Holly Border mask and worked pine needles DI through the mask using cut and dry foam. Next I coloured the berries red then added the sentiment which is from pinflair and was cut with a spellbinders die. Then I added the bow and the poinsettia.

I'd like to  enter this card into thefunkiejunkie challenge-12-tags-of-christmas week 10.

I also have a commenters candy to share with you today. Celebrating my GDT spot at That Craft Place I have some of their lovely goodies to give away to one of you. They have so many wonderful items - why not have a browse at the shop here .... They are also super friendly and helpful!  Here's the candy:

The candy consists of a mask, two diecut hearts, three trinkets, two metallic tags and some lace.

If you would like to be in with a chance of winning this candy you need to be a follower and leave a comment on this post. I will draw a winner on Wednesday 18th December and hopefully get it in the post to reach you before Christmas - post willing of course!

Thanks for dropping by today and I hope to see you again soon! Big Hugs Rachel xx
