Trash to treasure at stamps and stencils

Good morning all! How are you today? This is a scheduled post as I am away in Germany with my girls visiting Shaun's brother and his family who live there. Hope we're having fun!!!

Today is the start of a new challenge over at stampsandstencils. The theme this month is form the lovely Autumn and its all about taking something that was trash and turning it into treasure - upcycling really! Here's what Autumn has to say about it.

Don't we all love a good upcycled project?  This month we'd love to see how you take something that you'd normally discard and give it new life in your art.  Whether it's glamorized boxes, Styrofoam turned into a stamp, packaging that's been die cut, or another altered idea you have.  Bring on your best mixed media repurposing!  We can't wait to see what you come up!  Don't forget to use stamps or stencils in your project.

So with this theme in mind my girlies returned home with an empty Ferrero Rocher box for mummy to ' do something with'.... Well it got gessoed, then stencilled, then painted and then stamped and it ended up looking like this:

Well I know its not perfect but I think its a huge improvement!!

The paint is whinberry pie from Indigo Blu and the stencil came from paperartsy.

The fuchsia and dragonfly were die cut and stamped using products from sheena douglass.

Here you can see the inside which I have left black for now - you can see the perspex of the ferrero rocher box. I think I will use this box to store some trinkets in - or maybe some crafty goodies on my craft desk.... the possibilities are endless!

I hope you can join us with your trash repurposing over at stampsandstencils!

Big hugs

Rachel x

  9. Well besides making me hungry for chocolates and hazelnuts, this made me giddy with excitement! I have quite the collection of these empty boxes and can't wait to use them in this way. I usually keep them clear and store things in them, but they do break easy. So an artsy project will be so much more fun! I love your fabulous stamps & stencils here and this oh so spring color palette. A true beauty! Hugs, Autumn
