Robins at CCC

Good morning - I do hope you are well! This is a scheduled post as we are hoping to head down to the craft show at Leigh today - although with all the weather of late maybe that won't be happening!!!

Today the choice of our Valery over at Christmas Card Club is Robins - those cute little birds associated with Christmas for many. I am lucky enough to see them year round in my garden. Me and my girls name them after some of the dear departed family members we have. 'Daddy' robin is the favourite but we also have grampsy robin, daddad robin and Mischief robin! Its keeps us happy!

Anyway I managed to have some inky fun with this theme and make some cards too.

This first one has been stamped onto a background I already had ready. The stamp is from crafty Individuals and was uninked before this card was made! Such a shame but now I know I love it!!!

A more traditional approach with this robin from Sheena Douglass....

The brushos came out for this robin also from Crafty Individuals ....

and again with the background for this topper I made using a sheena stamp.

I am getting quite a stash of cards already  and feel very good about that!

Spring Ring

Good morning all! Well its been so cold I felt the need to finish my spring ring in needle felting to make me feel better and brighter - and it worked!!!!

I took the idea from two of my project boxes from The Makerss...the first was a winter ring and the second was a spring picture....et voila!!!

Hope you have a good Saturday - we are going to be busy, Lucy has a birthday party, there's a demo day at Rowan tree crafts, Penny has gymnastics too and there's a harry potter thing going on at the museum in Lancaster!

Wax Lyrical at Stamps and Stencils

Hello there - second post of the day already - and its a new challenge at stamps and stencils - the new theme is wax lyrical...chosen by Sue...and here's what she said about it...

Wax Lyrical - I have long been fascinated with the subject of Encaustic Art, melting wax to create many layers and trapping pieces of fibres and papers between the layers of melted wax just seems magical to me. So for this challenge I want to see some wax on your projects, whether it's just dribbled, melted and then stamped into or a wax embellishment as long as you include some stamping or stencilling the choice is yours ! 

I had big plans for this challenge after meeting the Lovely Ruth on a course where we used wax.... but things didn't go quite to plan and although I made my wire object my fabric didn't work with my beeswax so watch this space! I fell back on encaustic wax to create backgrounds and fussycut stamped images to add ontop.

 

I did have fun with these - I love these new stamps from elenazinskiart at paperartsy....I decided to create a few fields using the waxes and the encaustic iron. 

Here's the first - love the features created by the wax on that hillside!

In this one I tried to do some wax flowers in the foreground...

This one is a bit more abstract but if you squint you can make a landscape out!!!

Postcard sized at Countryview Challenges

Pinch punch its the first of the month! Happy March to you! This year is definitely haring away isn't it? With this in mind I decided to make an approriate Postcard sized (4x6 inches) piece for my DT piece at Countryview challenges this month. The lovely Sue came up with the theme which is just fabulous as really it gives you free rein!

I made my piece using the Hare stamp from Sheena Douglass. I coloured him in pencils, masked him then created the background using distress inks, posca pens and other stamps from the Hare set. 

Here's a closer look. Its a great stamp!

Blessed are the curious

Hello there! How are you? I've been playing some more with the 'theories stamp set from Tim Holtz and have made another card - I love the sentiment on this - Blessed are the curious for they shall have adventures.... brilliant and oh so very true!!!

I made the tag background first, using distress oxides and overstamping with the aall&create stamps in green ink. Then I used the TH theories stamps in black. I mounted the tag onto black card. Next on the card itself I used brushos and some CB stamps and created the background with black archival plus distress oxides for the stamping.

A simple card but I just love this stamp!

Back from Pottyroos

Afternoon all and brrrrr!!!!! How chilly is it? Very chilly where I live and although we don't have snow - yet - I think its on the way. If its like this where you are please keep warm!!!!

I've been off to Pottyroos again this morning - doing some DT work and started on a teapot to match the items below that I made last week on a course called 'lollipop flowers'...

A sugar bowl and a flour shaker.... all painted to match my green kitchen!!!

The lollipop flowers are really sweet....

I love my flour shaker ....this will be useful too with all the baking going on!

cakes!

Hello there! How are you? I am feeling a little better - thanks for your kind words - still coughing etc..but feeling less fuzzy headed!!! Maybe thats because its not morning! Anyway! I have had a good day - enjoyed the sunshine with the other 261 running ladies...we worked on sprints today - lots of fun - I enjoyed the sprinting more than the rest of the run which surprised me! This afternoon I worked on the final cake for the next few months I hope!!! So much sugar in the house! I have decided to try a sugar free March - I'll let you know how that goes!!! After making the final cake I made a card reflecting my mood!!!

Hee hee - love these new stamps from elenazinski at paperartsy....the theme there this fortnight is watercolour so I water coloured the chef in watercolour pencils and the cake in distress oxides and distress inks....

The background is, of course distress oxides, I love these colours together!

Here's the cake - some of the colours are a bit muted and haven't shown up well but I guess thats watercolouring for you...sometimes bright, sometimes not!

I would like to enter the challenge at paperartsy where the theme is watercolours.
