My bravest day - a journal page for Wanderlust

Hello lovelies ... How are you today? I hope you are good! I am good and hoping to go for a nice swim and cycle today so I hope the weather is good too!!

In the Wanderlust programme that I am following there are a number of activities - one of them is a journal and whilst I was ill this page prompt came up. 'What's the bravest thing you've ever done?' - well I thought long and hard about this - I went down the crazy brave route and came up with sky diving and back packing on my own, then I thought deeper and thought about the thing that I really had found hardest to do - sadly there were a few difficult memories to dredge through there - but in the end it came down to telling my girls that their beautiful and wonderful daddy had died. My page represents that day for me - the day the earth cried and the heavens gained an angel too soon.

Here's is the whole page - I used distress stains to quickly colour the page - and stencils from Clarity and Dina Wakely and Sheena to create the scene. I also used a cloud mask from clarity.

A close up - the lady is from Clarity, the fence and lampost sheena.

Representing my little girls....

And this is representing Shaun.....

I found this page very therapeutic - but also very difficult.

Have a great Friday!

Lots of love and hugs

Bad Blogger

Morning all! How are you? Thanks for keeping with me despite my being such a bad blogger - I'm struggling for a voice at present and feel totally tired out so I have been taking it easy. I hope you don't mind. I will try and do some visits later if I feel any better.

Thanks for your kind comments on the cards yesterday - today I have a page from my wanderlust journal that I completed whilst in York - the theme was writing - and I was also dabbling with shapes from our visits. Here is my page:

I painted up the pages before we left then just added all the pen work whilst away.

The symbols were from events that happened whilst away - we watched this kids film called Zathura and that shape came from the game track shape from the film. The wheel came from a visit to the National Railway Museum.

More shapes - from our visit to DIG and the National Railway Museum.

It was a good trip despite getting ill.

Thanks for all your well wishes for Penny and her party too - she had a lovely time - here's a peak at the cake my friend Danielle made for her!

She had a great time and thanks again for all the birthday wishes for her!

Big huggles.

still life - wanderlust week 4

Hello Lovelies - this is a scheduled post as I should be away today at York with my little chippers - we've come to see whats happening with the Viking festival - looking forward to it!

I wanted to post this piece whilst I was away - it was in response to week 4 in the wanderlust classes - it was all about still life - this is the picture I composed and worked from to a degree.

I say to a degree because many things changed!

Here's my final canvas ...

And a closer look ...

closer still - I think I captured the main elements and am pretty pleased overall with the way it turned out - I haven't done anything like this ever really - interesting stuff!!!

Big hugs

wanderlust travel journal ....

Good morning lovelies! I am so happy to be able to report that my wanderlust travel journal from Kate Crane's class in week 2 is finally ready. I hoped to get it ready for a trip i am taking at half term with the girls to the Viking Festival at York. I am so pleased it is ready - here it is:

These are the hard covers created using hardboard and sticky back canvas, stamps and stencils and grunge paste and Indigo blu paints.

Here are some of the views from the inside. I have used blank paper to create this - I think it was such a clever idea and loved the tutorial from Kate Crane - clever lady. I also used paints from indigo blu, stamps from indigo blu and also stencils from paperartsy plus distress inks and pens.

the sentiment stamps are from a combination of sources.

Can't wait to use this jounal!

I am pleased with it - thanks wanderlust and thanks Kate Crane!

I really want????....

Hello Lovelies! How are you today? I hope you are well! We had a good weekend - visited my mum and dad yesterday and dad was better again - he's almost back to normal now - which is wonderful to see. Not quite - but definitely getting there!

I have been playing catch up with my wanderlust course - I found my computer couldn't play the videos - its been a real pest recently too -not allowing me on different websites too! Anyway, I bit the bullet and got hold of a new one. Now I'm not sure it really is what I want - but at least I can watch the videos now! Anyway - one of the things to do was a second book prompt - we had to do a page inspired by .....what I really want is ... I also wanted to address the hearts challenge over on the paperartsy blog. Here's what I came up with!

I created a painty journal page by brayering different opaque chalk paints onto my page then I did some stamping and stenciling and mark making with white paint.

Next I stamped and fussy cut the cog hearts and added them.

I added some script too ... and a picture of my hearts desire - my late husband!

Such a gorgeous man - miss him every day!!!

I would like to enter this into the paperartsy topic-2-hearts-challenge.

I'm looking forward to a run with my friend Emma this morning, followed by coffeepot - Diana is in charge today so I can sit back and play!  I then have my regular visit to the gym to do some weight training. Should keep me out of trouble!

Have a great Monday!

Big hugs

wanderlust 2016

Hello all! How are you today? I hope you are well! If not sending hugs and best wishes. Things here are okay - my dad is still in hospital - he seems pretty normal but the hospital staff are concerned about him on a number of levels. Hopefully he'll be home soon - but with some help in place for my mum.

This year is the start of a wonderful arty adventure called wanderlust. I signed up for this course and have my first journal page to share with you today. The idea is to create a journal page based on a word that describes you today - well since I was feeling pretty frazzled the day I did it thats the word I used.

I had lots of fun making the background for the word to sit on - I played with red and yellow acrylic paints applying it with my fingers and then, once dry, applied inks via a stencil around the edge and also on the painted areas.

Next i did some stamping - in archival inks using stamps from Indigo Blu - texture stamps.
The word was added with just a spectrum noir alcohol ink pen.

A quick page for the start of my wanderlust journey - but by the time it was done I was no longer frazzled - amazing eh??

Big hugs

Rachel xx
