winter scene at Christmas card club

Morning all! I am chasing my tail at the moment - far too much to do for the number of hours in the day. I just raced up the ladder and made this card as I am behind! Its a quick make using Indigo Blu stamps and adirondack inks.

I masked the card first top and bottom then stamped and embossed the trees. Then I used torn paper and stencil brushes and adirondack inks to create the scene having first masked the moon. Finally I stamped the deer and the sentiment..

I've had a bit of a week this week - I had to have my poor puss put to sleep. She wasn't eating at all and was walking around the house mewling all the time.  The vets couldn't find anything specific and thought that given her age and the tumours on the tail earlier in the year that even if they did more tests the results would have been incurable. I don't have insurance and having spent £517 on tests and rehydration earlier in the week I took the heart breaking decision that this was the end of the road. Its something that I will never know if it was the right thing to do - and I would never want to make  a decision like that again. I just feel really rubbish about it all.

Anyway - we're off to see santa shortly so I had better put my big girl pants on and get on with it!

Big hugs!

Rachel x

  1. Good Morning Rachel. Your card is so beautiful and I can just imagine the scene. I think you'll find that most of us are rushing around at this time of year. You gave Missy a lovely life with lots of love and when the end came you will have lots of happy memories. Grief is a terrible thing and works very different for everyone. Take Care and enjoy your Santa Day with your beautiful girls. Hugs Rita xxx

  2. Hi Rachel, oh it's been a harsh year for you, but it sounds as if Missy was in some distress, so you could only make the right decision, hard though it was, but I know how much you agonised over it, I had to do the same with Chillingham. Just remember that she was much loved and you'll have lovely memories.
Gorgeous card, your scene is beautiful and lovely soft wintery shades, hugs Kate x

  3. A beautiful card Rachel, craft therapy was just what you needed after this week. I had to make the same decision with our dog a couple of years ago, after paying a fortune for tests (we had no insurance)we were told he had Leukemia . I know that I made the right decision but it does not make it any easier.

    Hugs Sue xx

  4. A beautiful card Rachel -enjoy Santa-it definitely sounds like you made the right decision-although it doesn't make it any easier-we have had a dogs and cats die but the one I had to make the decision about still upsets me to this day and it was about 10years ago

  6. Hi Rachel, firstly, I'm so sad for you for the loss of your cat. we had to do the same with our beloved Puss two years ago now, he had organ failure. It's so hard, but we cannot let them suffer, just because we don't want to lose them Only now thinking of adopting another.
Love the card, I bought that set this year, but haven't used it yet. Have a lovely Christmas, Hugs, Shaz xx

  10. A fabulous card Rachel, such a lovely winter scene.
One of the most difficult decisions to make but I'm sure it was the right one, you didn't want Missy to suffer.
    Take care.

  11. I'm so sorry to hear the outcome of your puss. It is never an easy decision to make and will always be heart rendering. I have been in that position so many times. The decision you make is always the right one at the time you make it.
Your card is lovely. I was going to put deer on mine then realised they would not look the right height against the house as I put it too far forward in the scene. I love the sky colouring you have acheived .
Hugs to you and the girls. Mrs A and those pesky elves.

  13. Rachel, please don't feel bad, no one wants to see an animal suffer, especially a cherished pet like Mischief. It is always such a hard decision, but Mischief is not suffering anymore and that's important and you did what was right for her...

Your card is beautiful Rachel, you really did create a wonderful scene, I love it! Big hugs, Anne xxx

  16. Sorry to hear about the difficult decision with your pet but sometimes, this is much the kindest decision for a beloved pet. Not easy to make it though. Your work on the snow scene is most impressive. The smoothness of the blended sky & background is lovely, and I like the white trees with the brown deer! So many of us had a deer & trees in our 'snow scene' challenge. This is beautiful. Good luck with catching up with all things. TFS & Merry Christmas.

  21. Firstly, the card is lovely - such delicate hues in the sky, and the bare landscape is so atmospheric.

Second, I'm so so sorry to hear about your cat, and though it was hard I'm sure you made the right decision - and she knows you loved her too.
    Hugs,

  22. Hi Rachel , so sorry for your loss, i know how it hurts they are part of the family, i have two cats that have problems and massive vet bills i do have insurance but the cost each month as they are over 10 is huge.
We do the best we can for our pets and sometimes its best to do whats right for them and not us, which i think you did.So don't be hard on yourself.
Look after yourself, hugs to you all, x Sam
