birdie birdie tweet tweet

Good morning and a happy Saturday to you - would you believe that the tap in the sky seems to not be turned on right now - its amazing! I'm not expecting too much though because the forecast isn't so good.

There seemed to be a whole host of challenges going around to do with birds and things with wings - so I used the excuse to ink up the magpie set of stamps from clarity - I had to buy them - but this is the first chance I had to ink them up!

I used Katy's sketch from over at Do crafts this week and layout my elements accordingly. I used tim holtz distress papers and several distress inks to create the background (stormy sky, broken china and chipped sapphire) of both the card and the tag. The stamp I stamped in denim blue adirondack but then used some promarkers and some cosmic shimmer water colour paints to complete the look. I must say - I am very chuffed with the way this has turned out!
I'd like to enter it into the following challenges:
Whoopsi Daisycutedaisymay: Things with wings
CYPCcraftyourpassionchallenges: Things with wings
cupcakecraftchallenges: Birds of a feather
fashionistachallenge: Winged things
divasbydesignchallenge: Tag your it.

I hope the rain keeps off - we had planned swimming but if its going to be dry it would be nice to get out into the garden!

Big Hugs

A run between the showers

Morning all - hope you are happy this Friday morning? I'm feeling happy as I've just had a lovely run between the showers - and then had a shower and now I can relax with blogland for 20 minutes until I have to go down to school to run the gardening club! I do enjoy being busy! I just hope the rain stays off long enough for the children to come outside this week!

Todays card is a patriotic red, white and blue take on snow white - from saturated canary:

She's a stunning image from Krista smith - but I think my colouring (in my trusty promarkers) isn't the best so don't look too closely!!! I've followed a sketch from seems a little sketchy and I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

saturatedcanarychallenge: red, white and blue
craftysentiments: red white and blue
pinkgemchallengeblog: buttons, bows, bling and butterflies
fabnfunkychallenges: cute and girly
thepapershelter: punches and/or dies (just dies for this one)
I love promarkersilovepromarkers: anything goes
pattiescreationschallenge: red, white and blue.

Got to rush now!

Big hugs and have a fab weekend!

bring me sunshine

Morning all! Well it rained here all day again  yesterday - the only sunshine was on the little faces of my pack of rainbows! Bless them!

Anyway - I've got a bright and cheery card to start this new rainy day with and I have to say that I'm very pleased with it - well mostly!!! And here it is:

I've used sketch 73 from the sketch and stash library

and this stamp is my unused stash - I know - how could I leave it lying uninked for so long!  I've coloured the image with promarkers added the embellies and ribbons and bow.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
sweetstampinchallengeblog: Ribbons and bows
housemouse-challenge: Liq refreshment for hot summer days
movingalongwiththetimes: Birthday Bash
stampinfortheweekend - show us your style.
lexiscreations: At the beach
tuesdayalchemy: Furry animals.

Hope you all have a lovely Thursday and thanks for any comments you may leave - it really does make my day!

Its a boy thing!

Good morning all - I do hope you are all well! I join you on this wet morning - where does it all come from? I cancelled my usual Wednesday morning run so I'm here slightly earlier today. I couldn't face running in the rain - not when I'm not training for anything in particular!

I have a card to share with you today that has been a long time in the making - things just kept happening to prevent it from being made - and now its here I'm hoping I'm in time for the sugar bowl challenge as that's where the sketch that I've used came from! The image is sugar Nellie.

He's such a cute boy - and look at that frog and snake he's holding - typical boy attitude!
I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges:
sugarbowlblog: One for the boys
fussyandfancychallenge: Boy attitude
herecometheboysblogchallenge: Metal or embossing
thatcraftplaceblog: Its all green
cutiepiechallenge: One for the boys

Hope you all have a wonderful day and that the wet stuff stops soon so that we can start to enjoy the outdoors a bit more!

LEJ Designs DT Post: Here comes summer

Good morning all - I trust you are all well? Well we're not having much of a summer are we? But over at LEJ designs Challenge blog this week we're celebrating the summer we should of had - with the latest challenge 'here comes summer'. you can reach the challenge here.

There are two prizes as usual - the first randomly picked winner will receive 3 digis of their choice from LEJ Designs  which you can find here.
The second prize has been kindly donated by Vee Cassidy who is also our guest DT this week. The prize is a £10 online voucher for Joanna Sheen - so thanks go to Vee! You can find Vee's page here - she's also got some Me to you candy going on at the moment so check it out!

Finally a reminder to all those that enter the challenge using an LEJ design digi - there will be a rolling draw each week for one of you to win an extra digi - can't be bad eh?

Onto my card - I love this image - well I have to say I love all of the Suzejo images but this one she's in Minx form - with a cheeky summery ra ra skirt and pom poms!

I've used a stack of summery papers that came free with one of the magazines - and chosen two of the papers to join and make into a rosette. I've used colours from the papers to colour suzejo and added buttons to hold my easel card up! I hope you like it!

I'd like to enter this card into the following summery challenges:
deepoceanchallengeblog: Welcome summer
I'd also like to enter my card into these additional challenges:
fatpageswithattitude: Anything goes
papermakeupstamps: Anything goes.

Thanks for looking and hope to see you over at the LEJ Designs blog for some summer fun!

Versatile Blogger Award

Evening all - I was lucky enough to be awarded the versatile blogger award for the second time yesterday - thanks Marlene! Its very kind of you to think of me!

Now the award says that first of all I have to reveal 7 random facts about myself - so here goes:

1. My sister Jacqui lives in New Zealand and runs a laser cutting business.
2. I have run the London marathon once and the great north run 3 times.
3. I met my husband when I was just 18 - but it took another 15 years for us to get together!
4. My eldest daughter Lucy was nearly called Lily as the water Lily in our garden pond flowered on the day she was born.
5. I love to eat cold mushy peas from the tin.
6. I don't like cucumber or melon
7. I love to grow vegetables.

That's the easy part - now I've got to nominate 15 bloggers to receive the award - now I think 15 is way too many - so I'm just going to do 5 -  so here goes:

1. Ginny at http://asidorodos.blogspot.co.uk/
2. Helen at http://crafty-mamma-mia.blogspot.co.uk/
3. Pauline at http://craftingwithcotnob.blogspot.co.uk/
4. Jo at http://mycraftingcorner-jo.blogspot.co.uk/
5. Karen at http://stampinginpink.blogspot.co.uk/

I've tried to choose people who accept awards and don't appear to have this one on their blog layout - sorry guys if I missed it - it gets trickier to do these things!

Big hugs to all of you - you're all an inspiration and definitely a versatile blogger!

Hugs Rachel xx

brrr - its cold outside!

Good afternoon all - and where is the day going to! I can't believe its this time already - my youngest went off for her first visit to primary school this morning - she looks so grown up in her school uniform - I couldn't help but have a little tear in my eye! I hope its gone ok - she'll be at nursery this afternoon then I can pick her up later for her ballet lesson and we can find out how it went - fingers crossed it was good!

Lots to share with you today - first of all there's some new blog candy over at Vee Cassidy's blog - its a me to you pack and its there until the 25th July - I've put the libk on my sidebar so pop over and have yourself a look - she does some amazing things!

Secondly my card for the day - its a Christmas card - and I've finally got my memory box border die out of its packet! Yipee - I love it!!!

So the image is tatty teddy  (me to you) and the die is a memory box die - the sentiment says'let it snow' - I'm hoping we'll keep that for winter!!!
I'd like to enter this card for the following challenges:
Christmas challenges with sketches: challenge-29
Winter wonderlandchristmasblogchallenge: Christmas teddy
allsortschallenge: Any die will do
365cards:  day 115: Cold
abcchristmaschallenge: L is for lyrics: Let it snow

Now I was going to mention something else but time is fast running out - so I'll keep that for later! Big hugs! Rachel xx

summer wedding card

Hi there! Well its a lot drier here today - thank goodness - hope it is wherever you are too! Yesterday was such a nightmare - I went to help set up the school summer fair and the 'marquee' thing that had been put up on Thursday night blew down and out onto the road. Luckily there wasn't any traffic on it at the time and nobody was hurt - but all the poles were buckled and snapped! What a nightmare!
Anyway - I'm just back from the summer fair and thankfully the weather was kind to us - we had a reasonable turn out and I'm sure will have made a good amount for the PTA. We took about £75 on our plant and vegetable stall - half of what we took last year but not to be sniffed at! And Shaun brought my girls along and they all had a lovely time!

Anyway - onto my summer wedding card - I've made tis for a number of reasons - one of which is a competition in quick cards - I don't usually put cards up here until after the deadline has passed but I wanted to post this one - so here it is!

I've used an image from humphreys corner called the wedding march and pyramaged it up - the flowers are on a ribbon band from wild orchid crafts - I just love it so much - and I've used a Martha Stewart over the page punch in the background plus a doily.
I followed a sketch from the Friday sketch challenge and chose WOW to qualify for a challenge over at the Whimsy stamps blog. I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
fridaysketchchallenge: Christines sketch
whimsyinspires: White on white
wildorchidchallenge: anything goes
Hope you have a good weekend!
Thanks for amy comments you may leave and for looking!
Big Hugs

no torch today

Good morning all! Here's hoping you are well! I'm guessing you may be wet! Well I was supposed to be taking my girls to see the olympic torch as it passed through nearby Carnforth today - but the rain has put me off and I'm afraid I didn't fancy standing in it with two little girls not really being able to see past peoples umbrellas!!! So mummy made the decision not to go! I think the my eldest Lucy was quite relieved!!!

Anyway - onto todays card - I finally got the chance to have a play with some of the indigo blu things I was lucky enough to get for my birthday - and I made this thankyou card for my mum:

I used the flitterglu and the gilding flakes called brighton pier - I coloured the leaves and part of the inner with promarkers and the petals with pan pastels.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

panpasteluk: summertime
craftysentiments: Bright colours
365cards: Day 113: Nature

So thats all for today - I have a busy evening - its our annual guiding review that I have to attend tonight and then its the school summer fair (?) tomorrow - that should be fun in all this rain!!!
Have a great weekend and hope to see you again tomorrow!

Hugs Rachel xx

Good morning all - just a quick post today - I'm feeling pretty tired - its probably the weekend walk catching up with me! Hope you are all well!

A very simple CAS card today - I stamped the papermania image onto acetate then backed with double sided sticky paper from woodware and added metal flake from indigo blue. I cut out the image and added to my kraft card. That's about it really!

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges;
movingalongwiththetimes: Kraft cardstock
guylousinimitability: CAS and Kraft
simplylessismoore: Something shiny.
anythingchallenge: around the world/travel

Hopefully speak to you Friday - but it may be later! I've got lots of stuff on and time seems to be at a premium!!!

Good morning - its Tuesday so that means its time for a new challenge over at lejdesignschallengeblog. This week the challenge involves recycling or using household items (or both).
This week there will be two winners with the first out of the hat receiving their choice of three digis from LEJ Designs.

The second name out of the hat will win a prize from our sponsor this week, Mishelflo

 at http://mishelflocreativecrafting.co.uk/

Here's my card for the design team - I used an LEJ Designs image called Dawnbreaker - this and many other images can be found here. My recycling is the 'sun' behind my rooster - it was a wrapper for an extra large chocolate coin from starbucks. Yum!

Monday Monday

Well hello there! Thanks so much for all of your kind comments yesterday - and just to let you know I completed the 25km moonlight walk in 4 hours and 10 minutes - and I'm still standing!! We were so lucky - after the downpours of Saturday we actually had a virtually rain free walk! Amazing - so thanks to all of you for your well wishes!!!

Welcome also to Jo and Caroline - my two newest followers - its very kind of you to follow - and I hope I don't let you down!

Well today my crafty friends, I have a card to share with you that I made at Rascals Play area on Saturday. Its not such a good environment to work in as my usual playbarn but this is what I managed to come up with.

I used the second of my new LOTV stamps that I got for my birthday and some papers that came free in an edition of Quick cards about 3 months ago. I coloured the image with promarkers and stamped it onto some of the patterned papers to created 'paper pieced' wings for the butterfly. I followed a sketch from over at the willowsketchiechallenge and also my favourite colour scheme which is blue/green and orange. I have used 3 different papers from the pad, 2 different ribbons and 1 sentiment so would like to enter this into the 3-2-1 challenge over at papertakeweekly. I would also like to enter this card into the liliofthevalleythursdaychallengeLOTV challenge at Lili's little fairies which is In the Garden this time, the willow sketchie challenge (sketch and colour combo), the paper piecing challenge at allsortschallenge Let's go fly a kite at jellyparkchallengesJelly Park and child's birthday at audsentimentschallengeblog.

I will be back tomorrow with a DT piece. Hope to see you then! Big Hugs Rachel xxxx

DT post for the Crafty Pad

Good morning all - if you're reading this when it first comes out - think of me - I did the moonlight walk last night - I suspect in the pouring rain - for St John's hospice! 25km  - starting at 10pm. Anyway - I'm hoping to be asleep when this thing goes live - what's the likelihood????!!

Anyway - onto more pressing matters - over at the Crafty Pad today the new challenge begins - and this is my first DT post for them. Its Leesa's challenge today and the theme is food. We're sponsored by Creative Craft World so why not see if you can bag yourself a £5.00 voucher in this challenge?

You can go over to The Crafty Pad here and have a look at the fantastic work that the rest of the DT has produced - and this week Kevin from McCrafty's cards is the GDT. Oh and don't forget if you use a Crafty Pad image you can get another for free - see the main challenge post for further details!

Here's my card:

This cheeky little penguin is warming himself up on a tasty mug of hot chocolate - this and many more crafty pad images (including the christmas ticket sentiment I've used) are available here - why not have a browse!

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges:
sparklesforumchristmaschallenge: Monochrome
trulymadlycraftychallenges: Monochrome
pattiescreationschallenge: Monochrome
pinkinksketchchallengesThe sketchy challenges: Sketch turned around 90 degrees.

its that baby again!

Morning all from a very rainy Lancaster! Hope its not as wet where you are but I suspect it might be! This morning I've got a commissioned christening card to share with you and so my little LOTV baby has come out of the draw to be inked up again!!!!

I followed a sketch over at the fridaysketchchallenge and the colour scheme - being for a girl - I thought matched in with lavendar and lace at joannasheenchallenge. I've used meadowlark papers from prima and because of the layers would like to enter the card over at littlemissmuffetchallenges loads of layers. I've used ribbon, lace and diecuts to cover a line in the tictactoe at bearlymine-challenges blog and I'd also like to hope that a ribbon circle and a paper circle counts as two circles for the challenge at the thesisterhoodofcrafters. Finally I'd like to enter my card into the anything goes challenge at tuesdayalchemy

Let's hope the rain stops - I've got the moonlight walk to do tonight - its in aid of St. John's hospice and involves a 25km walk that starts at 10pm. Its looking wet - but hopefully I'll still have fun!!!!

Big hugs and fingers crossed for better weather!

more red white and blue

Good morning my crafty friends and followers - I do hope Friday is being good to you and that you are all happy? My little Penny has gone off to nursery today - and I'm not running - so I have the morning to myself before I venture out to do gardening club at the local primary school - where my Lucy attends!

I'm not very happy with this card - I was so pleased with it then when I added the glittered flag (that I'd made with double sided clear sticky from woodware and glitter and masks, to the acetate the glue showed through - I think I may still send it in to Barbara Gray's classroom cards - but I may add a rosette to the top left hand corner to make it look a little better! Anyway - you live and learn!!!!

So the stamps ate from Clarity - the classroom set from ideal world's last session with barbara - I've used pan pastels along the bottom border and stamped up with the mini stamps - and obviously I've used metal flakes to back the cyclist image up in the O. I wish I'd not put the acetate on now! Totally unnecessary!

Anyway - I'd like to enter this for the following challenges:
samueltaylors June Challenge:Red White and Blue
cupcakecraftchallenges Red, white and blue
anddoyoustackup DYSU Boys and men

Enjoy your Friday and Happy Crafting

Is it a whiff of Joy?

.......or is it something else ( I just did a 5 mile run!) No seriously though - whiff of Joy - I love that name - and I have to say I've been tempted over to their blog and of course had to buy a couple of digis whilst I was over there - so of course it would be rude not to enter the challenge currently running. I made this card using the sketch outlined over there:

I've made this card for my eldest daughter Lucy - both she and her sister Penny are both going to be in their first ballet show in July - so this is Lucy's good luck card - Penny's will appear soon!!!!I've used mostly papers from prima's meadowlark and also the large piece at the back is a Tim Holtz distressed pad - the back one I've used disress ink around the edges - all of the other mats I've used my distress tool on.There's also an adage ticket from Tim Holtz in there and a marha stewart edge punch, plus a doily.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Whiff of Joywojmondaychallenge: Kathrin's sketch
craftyannschallengeblog: Its a girl thing
Sunday stamperpinkleart: pretty in pink ( altho its a digi - I did get messy with distress inks Hels - honest!!!)
Girls Girls Girls at bunnyzoescrafts
promarkerchallenge: lots of layers.

Just a little word about my evening last night - I went to do card making with guides in my village - it was an interesting experience - I took my cuttlebug along - I think they enjoyed it - everybody's makes were so different - but they were all making so that's the main thing!!!

Enjoy Wednesday!

DT Post for LEJ Designs challenge: Daddy dearest

Good morning all! And a happy Tuesday to you!

This morning there's a new challenge starting over at lejdesignschallengeblog - its theme is a male card and the title is daddy dearest - obviously any male card will be acceptable but the challenge is highlighting Fathers day which, of course, falls on Sunday!

The challenge can be found here. There are prizes for the first two names chosen at random from cards or other projects entered - first prize is 3 digis of your choice from lejdesigns and the second prize this week is a pack of artbars from Derwent, our sponsor that you can visit here.

So my card this week features some time stealing pixies - I thought they were quite appropriate for fathers day since it always seems that the older you become the quicker time goes - and obviously my dad is older than me! There's logic there somewhere - anyway - its a fab digi - so what do you think of my card?

I made the background paper using distress ink pads direct to paper - china blue and walnut stain and used some cut and dry foam to blend the edges. I did a similar thing with the tag except the brown ink was applied to my craft mat and the blue dyed tag patted onto the ink.I've coloured the image using promarkers and added a heart charm. The 'Dad' was diecut by my sister in New Zealand - she has a laser cutting machine and occasionally sends me words to add to my cards!

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
male card at panpasteluk
anything goes at craftyourpassionchallenges
Father's Day at craftysentiments

Here's hoping you have a fabulous Tuesday!
Love and hugs Rachel xx

A thankyou for my lovely hubby

Good morning crafters! I trust that Sunday morning finds you all well and happy? I'm feeling good and ready to get on with the day - but first I must post this card that I made last night for my lovely hubby - to say thankyou for all my wonderful birthday treats and for being such a fabulous man! I'm so lucky!!!!

I've got to use the first of my new LOTV stamps to make this card - I loved this on launch - but it was out of stock when I first tried to buy it - its perfect for me and my hubbie as we used to bike together quite a lot (more leathers than scooters - but you get the idea!)

I coloured the image using promarkers and then cut it out - I used a sketch from Katy's sketch challenge on docrafts and flowers and ribbon from the May pack from Duck Pond crafts.
I'd like to enter this card into the foloowing challenges:
dudetimedoodles: Boys and their toys
paperplaychallenges: Back to kraft basics

Hope you all have a fabulous Sunday!

Looking very good to me so why not check it out?

Okay so onto my card:

A lovely day!

Evening all! Well I've had a lovely day today - with my girls and mother-inlaw (Bez - she's fab!) at the Gulliver's World Attraction in Warrington. It really was fantastic - we got there to blue skies and enjoyed a good 5 hours before the heavens opened and sent us scurrying back to the car - and we will return as we just didn't manage to get everything done!

I also had some very exciting news yesterday - I'm not sure if I'm allowed to tell you - but I will anyway - I've been asked to join the DT for the Crafty Pad - I'm so excited! Thanks so much ladies - I'l do my best not to let you down!!!!

Oddly enough - the card I'd like to share with you this evening includes an image from the crafty pad that I won from their May release.

Isn't he just adorable? The colour scheme and stars were inspired by the challenge over at chocolatecoffeecards: photo inspiration and I followed a sketch from the challenge over atsketchandstashchallenge - my new stash that I've used is my sheena douglass daisy embossing folder - love it!!! I picked it up when I was at Dawn Bibby's shop the other weekend doing the workshop with Hels sheridan - and this is the first chance I've had to use it!!! I'd also like to enter this card into the cutiepiechallenge:  diecuts and punches, sweetstampinchallengeblog 'favourite' stamp andpapermakeupstamps Digi makeover challenge tic tac toe - which is bling, critter and embossing.

I think that's all for today - its my birthday tomorrow - and I'm very excited about the crafty stash my husband has got for me!!!! I say that he got for me - he gave me the money and I went on a spree!!!! What a lovely man he is!!!!

So until tomorrow! Hugs Rachel xxxx
